2020.09.18 23:44 BarbaBlannk How to run a funtion and going to other screen with kivyMD (python)?

Hi guys.

I try to run a funtion when a button is pressed but I do not know how.

from kivymd.app import MDApp from kivy.lang.builder import Builder from kivy.uix.screenmanager import ScreenManager, Screen screen_helper = """ ScreenManager: MenuScreen: FunctionScreen: : name: 'menu' MDRectangleFlatButton: text: 'Function' pos_hint: {'center_x':0.5,'center_y':0.5} on_press: root.manager.current = 'function' : name: 'function' MDRectangleFlatButton: text: 'Back' pos_hint: {'center_x':0.5,'center_y':0.1} on_press: root.manager.current = 'menu' """ class MenuScreen(Screen): pass class FunctionScreen(Screen): pass # Create the screen manager sm = ScreenManager() sm.add_widget(MenuScreen(name='menu')) sm.add_widget(FunctionScreen(name='function')) class DemoApp(MDApp): def build(self): screen = Builder.load_string(screen_helper) return screen # def funtion(self): # do stuff and then go to menu screen DemoApp().run()
Can you help me?

2020.09.18 22:18 Struggle_with_code New to kivy and I need help!- All kivy apps created work when in script (.py frmat) but do not after using pyinstaller for windows app

So I had problems with my own custom app then I tried one of the kivy examples and had the same problem. Essentially the app and files seem to be created with no errors (as far as my fairly unknowledgeable eyes can tell). I run the .exe file and it immediately closes after opening. Can anyone please help with this issue? I am trying to read the output but I don't really understand all of it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Is anyone else having this problem?
Here is the App in script format (it is one of the examples).
called main1.py
'''
Widget animation
This example demonstrates creating and applying a multi-part animation to a button widget. You should see a button labelled 'plop' that will move with an animation when clicked. '''
import kivy kivy.require('1.0.7')
from kivy.animation import Animation
from kivy.app import App from kivy.uix.button import Button
class TestApp(App):

def animate(self, instance):
create an animation object. This object could be stored
# and reused each call or reused across different widgets.
# += is a sequential step, while &= is in parallel
animation = Animation(pos=(100, 100), t='out_bounce')
animation += Animation(pos=(200, 100), t='out_bounce')
animation &= Animation(size=(500, 500))
animation += Animation(size=(100, 50))
# apply the animation on the button, passed in the "instance" argument
# Notice that default 'click' animation (changing the button
# color while the mouse is down) is unchanged.
animation.start(instance)
def build(self):
create a button, and attach animate() method as a on_press handler
button = Button(size_hint=(None, None), text='plop', on_press=self.animate) return button
if __name__ == '__main__':
TestApp().run()
this is the command I used to try and make the app:
python -m PyInstaller --name button main1.py
This is the output when I run the command:

2020.09.18 19:34 jimmyjohnjr1203 Modules in Virtual Environments

Hey, I'm having trouble using a virtual environment in that the programs I write can't import modules installed in the virtual environment. I know for sure that the modules are installed because if I run the python interpreter in the environment and import the module it works, but when I run a program in the same environment it is not imported and doesn't work. I'm also a little confused about whether it matters where I put the scripts I'm running. To be clear I've made sure the virtual environment is active when I run the script and I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my script. Here's the code :
print("importing Kivy") from kivy.app import App from kivy.uix.button import Button print ("Kivy imported") class TestApp(App): def build(self): return Button(text='Hello World') TestApp().run()
and in powershell I've run:
(kivy_venv) PS C:\Users\jackl\OneDrive\Desktop\Python> kivy_venv\kivy_apps\Kivy-test.py
It pops up a black window that immediately goes away. I'm pretty sure its an issue importing the module because I've run it in VScode and it doesn't import throwing a ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'kivy' error, although I'm not sure running it in VSCode is the same as in powershell because it uses different scripts to run it. So, my question is what is preventing my script in the virtual environment from importing kivy.

2020.09.17 18:56 Alternative-Leek8152 Kivy not displaying uncommon fractions

Kivy doesnt display uncommon fractions like \u2154 (which is ⅔).
I've tried using different fonts(some i downloaded and put in kivy/data/fonts, some i tried to point to my windows base fonts), but can't get them to actually display; it still just uses the default, unless I specify one of the default fonts(roboto-bold, etc.
Does anyone know the workaround? I really don't want to learn how to build fonts just to edit in a couple fractions since I feel like there has to be an existing answer, but that's my next step lol

2020.09.17 04:30 bad_I_drubble My second Python/Kivy-based App, MOMDYN, is live in the App Store today!

Exciting day for me today. I finally bit the bullet and decided I had a version that was "good enough" to release. Pushed through App Store Connect a few days ago, and today officially released. Pretty cool to see my app is the first (and only) result that shows up if you search multibody dynamics, makes me think I may be on to something. Should be up on the Play Store for Android in the next few days as well.

Tapping Through the Tabs

An Unstable T-handle Wrench, Like The Video From the Space Station
Yes, I made it a paid app, but if anyone is interested, I'm happy to add testers to the free beta, just send me a message or email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
Anyway, now that I'm done patting myself on the back, figured this group will appreciate an example of Python and Kivy actually being accepted for iOS. Hope you find it interesting.

2020.09.17 04:06 Sunnigen 2D Top Down Game Test

Hey all this a continuation of a problem that I had a week ago(link)
I wanted to see if I can do 2D roguelike generation using the kivy Python library. I already use it for making hobby desktop/mobile apps and wanted to explore game dev.
I'm pleased with the outcome so far, though there are some issues with rendering, FOV and tile coordinates vs actual coordinates. Here is the github link.
Definitely open to feedback or ways to make it better.

NPCs, Trees, Particles and Tiles Render Correctly, Most of the Time

2020.09.17 03:52 Zarch12s Classes and functions

I have just finished a couple videos of introduction to basic programming in python and i am somewhat stuck on classes and functions, do you guys know any good learning materials for functions and classes? i understand all the other basic syntax except for these two? Also just wondering but should i start learning a specific library like (kivy or tkinter) after i finish the syntax or focus on creating small projects without them first?

2020.09.16 16:10 Feather_Arts Can someone tell me how to install .jar file

Note: I am new to pycharm. I have indeed searched the internet. Please post with pictures or please post each step to achieve the same. Also, note I am not using Professional Pycharm IDE

Edit: I am trying to install 'PyCharm_kv_completion.jar' an extension for kivy. I did go to plugins -> 'Install plugins from disc' but that is throwing an error 'Fail to load plugin descriptor from file PyCharm_kv_completion.jar'

Python Kivy Library Test for Roguelike Generation

2020.09.16 00:32 Real_MichaelCera GUI in Python?

Hey guys I’m looking into building some iOS apps to test my Python skills and keep learning, and was wondering what GUI building library or module you would suggest? I know of Kivy, but is it reliable and any good?
Should I build the GUI in another language?
Thanks!

2020.09.15 16:46 Additional-Teach5180 What is the amount of app downloads/advertisement views required to make the Developer premium license worth it?

Hi,
Im looking to release my app I made for a small community of gamers, however I just found out that you need the Developer premium license to release apps to the Apple store, which costs 99$ a year, which is quite a lot considering I am only planning to publish one app.
So I could intergrate ads, like banners though I am unsure whether I would make my money worthwhile from it. My audiance is about 100k large and expected to get maybe 1-2k downloads first month with a daily user use of 250-500, I hope. Would advertisements make this journey worthwhile, short term? Also I am stuck to banner ads as I am using Kivy to create my app and I haven’t found a library or how to tutorial on how to add more effective adds yet.
Thank you for your input in advance.

2020.09.15 14:51 sprscrtacnt Kivy worked just fine for hello world, now it says there is no module called 'kivy', and also the command 'python' no longer is recognised in the cmd. Any suggestions?

So the title basically explained it, but I downloaded the dependencies and stuff (to my knowledge), and finally got to the part where I attempted a hello world. Code below:
from kivy.app import App from kivy.uix.button import Button class TutorialApp(App): def build(self): return Button(text="Hello World!") TutorialApp().run()
it worked fine, I got a popup with hello world, and everything was great. I tried to move on to the next step in the tutorial, and suddenly I'm getting the following error:
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'kivy'.
Also: i can't use the python command in the command line anymore, even though I used that abnunch while installing kivy. I have no clue what has happened. I have also tried using the same code that worked the first time, and I get the same error.
Any suggestions?
